Winston Churchill defined an appeaser as ‘one who feeds a crocodile, hoping it will eat him last’. Let’s keep this in mind as the World Economic Forum meets in Davos. Because our real pandemic is willful naiveté, and our greatest danger cowardice.
While hundreds of billions of working people across the planet suffer from hunger, insecurity, rising costs of living, and decreasing wages, “The very richest have become dramatically richer and corporate profits have hit record highs, driving an explosion of inequality”.
Empowered by advances in surveillance technology and emboldened by rapidly expanding public-private partnerships between law enforcement, the Intelligence Community, and the private sector, police have become particularly adept at sidestepping the Fourth Amendment.
This is the cronyism we have come to expect from the government. Taxpayers pay for the research and Big Pharma reaps the reward, courtesy of our federal government. The system isn’t broken—it’s functioning just as it’s supposed to, by lining the coffers of pharmaceutical companies.
For decades, center-left media eagerly reported on stories about pharmaceutical companies who lobbied governments to overmedicate children. But those lines of inquiry were closed for much of the pandemic. Discussion wasn’t much encouraged. Our job was to be scared, which wasn’t hard, especially for parents.
The CDC recently confirmed over 800 “accidental” Covid-19 deaths in 2021 for people under 60. These are deaths which obviously had little to do with Covid – but they logged them that way anyways.
